Hull City join the race for Motherwell forward

Hull City have joined the race to sign Motherwell forward Jake Hastie.

The 19-year-old is out of contract with the Scottish Premiership side and the Tigers are keeping a close eye on developments, according to the Scottish Sun.

Hastie has burst onto the scene for Motherwell over the past couple of months and has scored four goals in his last three games.

However, the Scottish side are sweating over his future and could risk losing him on a free transfer in June. They have offered a new deal to him but he will be weighing up his options with plenty of Football League clubs reportedly interested.

Leeds United and League One side Sunderland have also been linked over recent weeks.

Hull City are the latest side to be credited with an interest. The Tigers have delved into the Scottish market over recent times, such as when they signed Andy Robertson from Dundee United in 2015 and were heavily linked with Aberdeen star Scott McKenna last summer.

Nigel Adkins’ side have opted to sign young and hungry players this season, bringing in the likes of Reece Burke and Jordy de Wijs and it looks to have paid dividends. A run of six straight wins over the festive period catapulted the Yorkshire side from relegation candidates into Play-Offs contenders.

The signing of the in-demand Jake Hastie in the summer would be a coup for Hull and a great long-term option for them. However, they will have to see off competition from a lot of clubs to land him.
