West Brom head coach Darren Moore has said that the club are closing in on a contract agreement with emerging midfield star Rekeem Harper.
Fears were sparked when West Brom starlet Rekeem Harper delayed over signing a new deal with the club after the Baggies made an offer to the 18-year-old.
However, head coach Darren Moore has said that an agreement is coming closer and closer between Harper and the club.
“The update I believe is his advisers and our advisers at the club have proposed a deal,” Moore told the Express and Star.
“We’re one step again closer. We have moved on.
“Obviously it’s about Rekeem’s advisers and us coming to an agreement. We’re getting there.
“We want to see him stay here, we’ve agreed that we want him to stay, his advisers agree that he should stay, it’s just a matter of getting it sorted now.”
Harper has broken into Darren Moore’s team at the Hawthorns since the turn of the New Year, starting in eight of the club’s last nine games in all competitions, picking up an assist in their 3-2 defeat to Middlesbrough along the way.
Moore is clearly a big fan of the young midfielder. He went on to praise Harper’s maturity and ability in the middle of the park.
“His ability to soak up the atmosphere was incredible. He’s going to be a top player for us. His performances are getting stronger and better. He’s shown he has the appetite to cope at this level.”
18-year-old Harper will be hoping his run in the first-team can continue as West Brom look to win promotion back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.
