Young Bristol City striker Ricardo Rees has fired a reminder of his talents to first team boss Lee Johnson with a hat-trick for The Robins’ Development Squad this afternoon.

Luke Williams’ Under-23 side won 4-1 at Queens Park Rangers in the Professional Development League to extend their unbeaten run to four matches.

Young striker Rees played a key role in the victory, netting a hat-trick for The Robins in a little over an hour to push his claim for first team opportunities at Ashton Gate.

The 19-year-old only signed professional terms with Bristol City in the summer but is impressing at Under-23 level with this afternoon’s treble coming just 11 days after he scored against Millwall in his side’s last Professional Development League fixture. The Welshman is yet to make his senior debut for The Robins but his goalscoring form will have impressed first team boss Johnson.

Rees has spent time on loan at National League South club Bath City earlier this season where he made five appearances. The striker also scored for Bristol City in the final of the Gloucestershire Senior Cup which they won in the summer by beating Gloucester City 7-6 on penalties after the match had ended 1-1 after normal time.

The youngster will be hoping to impress with Bristol City’s Under-23s again when they host Coventry City in the Professional Development League on Friday evening.
