4 York City players that should impress in 14/15

Cultured central midfielder Luke Summerfield was recruited by Nigel Worthington this summer to replace the departing Adam Reed. Despite only finishing on the losing side twice in his 25 games in a York shirt Reed was released by Manager Worthington at the end of last season. His failure to transfer the form he showed in a 3 man central midfield to a 2 man cited as the reason for his release.

Summerfield could be seen as somewhat of a coup for York, the one time Chelsea trialist only spending a singular season of his career in the Football Leagues basement. That season he played alongside current York City skipper Russell Penn for Cheltenham and it is hoped they can reproduce the form they showed to get The Robins to the playoff final that year.

Extremely adept with the ball at his feet the 26 year-old is seen as the perfect foil for Penn’s industrious work-rate and will be the main source of creativity from the central areas. York fans will be excited to see how the central midfield partnership flourishes and fingers crossed go one better than they did in 2012.
