Sheffield United threw away a 3-0 lead against Aston Villa last night at Villa Park.
The Blades stormed into a three goal lead after a Billy Sharp hat-trick and the three points looked a formality for Chris Wilder’s side.
However, Villa produced a stunning comeback with three goals in the last eight minutes of the game to salvage a dramatic late draw.
Sheffield United would have gone top of the Championship with a win going into today’s fixtures which would have been a huge boost to their Premier League promotion push.
The visitors went into half-time 1-0 up at half-time after Sharp prodded home following a Gary Madine header across the box.
Wilder’s men seemingly blew away Villa in the second-half with two more typical poacher goals from Sharp and looked almost certain winners. The home fans headed for an early exit.
Dean Smith’s side pulled a goal back through Tyrone Mings on 82 minutes and made it 3-2 four minutes later after Tammy Abraham slotted the ball home after Dean Henderson parried a Tommy Elphick shot.
The hosts then grabbed a dramatic late equaliser when Andre Green got on the end of a John McGinn cross in the fifth minute of added on time.
Here is how the Blades fans reacted on Twitter to their 3-3 draw-

How big will those two dropped points be at the end of the season? #sufc

Even if we don’t go up this season, once the ownership is sorted in May and CW is given proper investment in the summer we will storm it next season, the trajectory is in one direction only. UBT. #sufc

When the dust settles, think that result tonight will go down as one of those crazy games that happen in football, although United do seem to be involved in a few! #twitterblades #SUFC

Did individual errors cost us big time? You bet they did! Does it hurt like f**k? Absolutely! But…please…a little bit of perspective. Understandably differing opinions are flying about. But that was 80 mins of pure joy. Then the unimaginable happened. #sufc #twitterblades

It hurts but just look at how good we were for the majority of the match. It's a joy to watch. Yes okay we made 3 mistakes, but how many times are 3 mistakes finished clinically like that? Move onto Wednesday, put it behind us and we'll be alreyt #sufc #twitterblades

Inconsolable after the result but I know come tomorrow morning it's a good point which we all would have taken. Keep the faith #sufc
