Barnet chairman to boycott cup tie at Brentford following away ticket disagreement

Barnet chairman Tony Kleanthous will boycott this evening’s Emirates FA Cup fourth round replay against Brentford at Griffin Park following a disagreement over the away ticket allocation according to reports by BBC Sport.

The National League outfit are the last remaining non-league club in this season’s competition and have sold out their ticket allocation for the match in West London.

It has been reported that The Bees chairman Kleanthous will opt against attending the match after Barnet fans were awarded less tickets than the maximum permitted under competition rules.

The total capacity of the away end at Griffin Park is around 1,600 whereas the maximum number of tickets permitted to be allocated to away fans for the Emirates FA Cup tie is 1,914. Given the access limitations and segregation of supporters at Griffin Park, Brentford were unable to allocate further tickets to Barnet, a move which is thought to have disappointed chairman Kleanthous.

The initial tie was an absolute cracker with both sides playing their parts in a thrilling 3-3 draw. Both Barnet and Brentford led at various points of the match in a real topsy turvy clash at The Hive. There were 38 attempts on goal, six of which were successful, and the woodwork was rattled on no less than three occasions.

Brentford are the red hot favourites to win the replay but Barnet will definitely want to have their say.
