The Match

Drama at the start! Millwall take a quick free kick after Ben Thompson is fouled. Jed Wallace gets the ball into the box, it is eventually picked up by Murray Wallace who goes down. No penalty given. Ben Marshall picks the ball up and curls an effort against the crossbar.

20 minutes in and it’s Millwall who have had the better of the game. The Millers yet to really test the Lions’s resolve. On the 20 minute mark. Shaun Williams lifted in a corner that Jake Cooper headed over.

13 minutes later another Millwall effort. This time Marshall’s corner is flicked out to Leonard by Hutchinson but the former Southend man sends his shot over the bar. Moments later another corner came into the box this time headed wide by Ben Marshall.

Another Millwall free kick on 40 minutes, Marshall puts the ball in the box but Smith manages to clear before Hutchinson can make contact.

In the second half it was the visitors who started the better. Their first effort of note was Semi Ajayi who’s turn shot was way over the bar. Michael Smith then had two chances. The first a one on one with Jordan Archer in which the goalkeeper came out on top. From the resulting corner Smith’s effort was cleared off the line by Ben Marshall.

Millwall went close with 10 minutes left. Jed Wallace’s cross was perfect for Ben Marshall, his header fell wide instead of going into the far corner.

With virtually the last kick of the match, Millwall broke, Jed Wallace sprinted up the right hand side and crossed the ball in for Gregory who put his effort wide of an open goal with the very last kick of the game.
