Leeds United, Daniel James’ agent blames Swansea City amid Leeds United transfer breakdown

Daniel James’ agent blames Swansea City amid Leeds United transfer breakdown

David Manasseh – the agent of Swansea City winger Daniel James – has opened up to the Yorkshire Evening Post about the breakdown of his client’s deadline day move to Championship leaders Leeds United.

The agent of Swansea City winger Daniel James has spoken to the Yorkshire Evening Post about the breakdown of the transfer of his client to Leeds United on transfer deadline day.

James’ agent, David Manasseh, spoke to the Yorkshire Evening Press regarding the breakdown of his client’s move.

“Swansea made no attempt to keep the player and at the first sign of money they couldn’t show him the door quickly enough,” Manasseh said.

It is very disappointing but the player is philosophical about it.”

Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa had made Swansea City attacker Daniel James his number one transfer target for the January transfer window. Talks seemingly stalled and stuttered in throughout the window, but a deal was agreed on transfer deadline day and James was set to move to Elland Road.

According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds would have paid a £1.5m loan fee for James and he would remain with the club until the end of the season, which would’ve been made permanent providing that the club won promotion to the Premier League – bringing the fee to over £6m plus further add-ons.

The YEP goes on to add that it had been agreed that the loan fee would’ve been paid in two instalments. £750,000 would have been paid up front and a further £750,000 paid in the summer, in agreeance with the demands of Swansea.

However, despite wide reports of an agreement, as always on transfer deadline day, late drama struck. And this time, it was Leeds United who were on the receiving end. United were “met with silence” from the Swansea board and the deal ultimately fell through.

Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins disagreed with owner Jason Levien over the sale of James, despite the American agreeing the sale with Andrea Radrizzani after discussions on Thursday.
