There was late deadline day drama in the Championship as Swansea City’s Daniel James’ proposed move to Leeds United fell through.
It looked a formality that the highly-rated winger would make the switch to the table toppers but the transfer was not sealed.
This is a blow for Leeds who put everything into bringing their top target of the January transfer window to Elland Road yesterday.
James, who is 21 years-old, has burst onto the scene for the Swans this season in the Championship and has played 21 games in all competitions.
He started his career with Hull City and looked set to return to Yorkshire yesterday with Marcelo Bielsa’s side. However, he will now remain in Wales, where he moved in 2014 for an initial fee of just £72,000, until the end of the season at least.
It was an interesting day at the Liberty Stadium yesterday with proposed moves away for James and Leroy Fer (to Aston Villa) falling through at the death. Jefferson Montero left the club for West Brom on loan, Wilfried Bony joined Al-Arabi whilst Tom Carroll made the loan switch to Villa Park, with a view to a permanent deal.
Here is how the Swansea City fans reacted on Twitter to Dan James’ move to Leeds collapsing-
Waking up and finding out the Dan James deal fell through 👌😁❤ #swans

Scenes at Elland Road when Dan James scores a 90th minute winner and Shush’s the ground to pure silence… #Swans #LUFC

Bony has been injured too often, Carroll is a fringe player with little to offer, Jeff is an excellent impact sub with pace but does get injured too much. Keeping Fer is good but keeping James is as good as a new record signing. Today could have been a lot worse! #Swans #YJB

Fer and James stay. Carroll, Bony and Montero out. Given everything that’s gone on I’m very happy with that! #swans

Wondering if potter threw a tantrum over #James to #LUFC or someone grew a backbone in the boardroom and said no to selling #SCFC #swans

But we still end the window significantly weaker than we started it. And you think this is good news how?
