BBC Sport Wales journalist Dafydd Pritchard has revealed that Swansea City winger Daniel James has told the club’s owners that he wants to leave, with Leeds United pushing to sign him before tonight’s deadline.
Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa made Swansea City winger Daniel James his number one target for the transfer window and with the window slamming shut later today, they could’ve just taken a big step to bringing him to Elland Road.
Now, after it was reported that United were making a “final push” for James last night, a deal is seemingly edging closer and closer as the deadline nears.
BBC Sport Wales journalist Dafydd Pritchard has revealed some of the crucial details included in the possible deal, also stating that James has requested to leave the club (see below):
Swansea want to keep him but feel they can’t now James has told them he wants to leave. If Leeds miss out on promotion, Swansea would take him back after his loan and try getting him to sign a new contract – but that look unlikely.

With James’ contract at the Liberty Stadium ending in the summer, it could be said that he has played his last game for Swansea City. A loan move to Elland Road would see the Wales international stay with Leeds until the end of the season.
James has played 18 times for Swansea City during their 2018/19 Sky Bet Championship campaign, scoring twice and adding four assists. His direct approach, and lightning pace have both been evident as has his ability to take on a man and beat him.
Many think that James is a player who will slot right into Bielsa’s style of play at Elland Road. That is something that United fans will be hoping for. Bielsa has been keen to add some electric pace to his side to add even more threat to their attack, and the arrival of James would do just that.
