Norwich City set to land Dynamo Dresden left-back

Norwich City are set to land Dynamo Dresden left-back Philip Heise, according to German news outlet Bild.

The Canaries are looking to bolster their defensive options by signing the 27-year-old on deadline day.

Norwich are currently 2nd in the Championship, three points behind Leeds United at the top and three points above Sheffield United in third. They are adding the finishing touch to their squad today ahead of the promotion run-in.

Daniel Farke and his recruitment team are delving into the German market once again for talent today and will work hard to sign Heise before the transfer deadline.

The German left-back will add some competition and back-up to the highly-rated Jamal Lewis, should the move get completed.

Heise currently plays in the Bundesliga.2 for Dynamo Dresden, of whom he joined in January 2017. His contract there expires at the end of the season, hence why Dresden are keen on offloading him for a fee this month to avoid losing him for nothing.

He has played 16 games in all competitions in this campaign, chipping in with one goal from defence.

Heise started his career with spells as a youngster at Fortuna Dusseldorf and Borussia Monchengladbach before joining third tier side SC Preußen Münster in 2011. He spent two years there before making the step up to the second tier with FC Heidenheim.

Stuttgart then snapped him up in 2015 but first-team chances were limited in the Bundesliga for him so he dropped down again to join Dresden in 2017. Heise now looks set for a new chapter in his career with Norwich City.
