Middlesbrough in talks with Hull City over potential signing of attacking winger

Middlesbrough have opened talks with Hull City over the potential transfer of Kamil Grosicki, according to Football Insider journalist Pete O’Rourke.

Grosicki is also attracting interest from French Ligue 1 side AS Monaco, but it is believed Middlesbrough have made the initial step to signing the Hull City winger by opening talks this week.

Tony Pulis’ side are hoping to get the deal over the line before Thursday’s deadline, and he would become Middlesbrough’s fourth signing of the window after Rajiv van La Parra joined from Huddersfield, John Obi Mikel’s arrival from Tianjin TEDA, and George Saville’s loan move from Millwall was made permanent.

Pulis has made it no secret that Boro are looking to recruit players who will give them creativity, pace and width. Stewart Downing is the club’s only natural wide player fit at present, with van La Parra making his way back to full fitness.

Grosicki has enjoyed a successful spell at Hull so far this season, scoring four goals and registering six assists in 22 league appearances. The Tigers will be hoping to keep hold of the Polish international however, with finishing in the top six a realistic target. Nigel Adkins’ side currently sit in 13th, but are just six points off a place in the Play Off positions.

Earlier today Middlesbrough were linked with Newcastle United winger Jacob Murphy as reported here by The72. However, it now looks as though Murphy is set to join West Bromwich Albion on loan until the end of the season, forcing Boro to look at other targets, starting with Grosicki.
