Aston Villa targeting Fulham trio

Aston Villa could be set to raid Fulham for three players, according to Birmingham Live.

Villa boss Dean Smith is keen to recruit ahead of Thursday’s transfer deadline and has reportedly identified Stefan Johansen, Floyd Ayite and Neeskens Kebano as targets.

All three were influential as the Cottagers sealed promotion to the Premier League last season, but have struggled to make an impact in the top flight and have found first-team opportunities limited.

Norway international Johansen has been the subject of interest from AC Milan during the transfer window and has also been linked with Leeds United, Middlesbrough and West Bromwich Albion. Villa’s Championship rivals have also set their sights on Kebano and Ayite, who would add considerable firepower to any second tier frontline.

Smith will be also be wary of potential departures from Villa Park, with out-of-favour forward Scott Hogan attracting interest from Sheffield United and Bristol City.

The Villains currently occupy 10th place in the Championship, four points adrift of the play-offs. Smith will have to act swiftly to secure the signatures of the trio and will need to integrate them into the squad just as quickly, with crunch ties against Reading and Sheffield United looming.

Villa have endured a frustrating few weeks but midfielder John McGinn has insisted that the side are ready to start climbing the table:

“It is a crazy league and other teams are dropping points. That is why you have seen in the past few weeks, it has been frustrating. That has been happening and we have not pounced on that.

“This week we did and hopefully in the weeks to come we will start climbing the table.”
