According to news outlet Mail Online, Chelsea are interested in landing Bristol City starlet striker Antoine Semenyo. The Blues have bid £1m, but the Robins are holding out for more.
The 19-year-old centre-forward in currently out on loan at League Two side Newport County. The London-born hitman has notched six goals whilst out on loan across 31 appearances in all competitions.
Whilst out of Ashton Gate, Semenyo has featured regularly for the Exiles, as he looks to become more accustomed to the rigours of professional football. It is an acclimatisation that appears to be bearing fruit, at least if Chelsea are taking notice.
Whilst Premier League big boys Chelsea may have entered a tempting £1m bid, the Robins are said to be holding out for a fee in the region of £2m.
His time at Michael Flynn’s Newport has seen him play a big part in their Sky Bet League Two campaign. His three league goals and two assists, in 21 league games, have seen him help the Exiles into 14th place in the league table.
Even with Bristol City holding out for £2m, that is pocket-money for a club of Chelsea’s stature. The Mail Online article says that the Blues “see him as a prospect for their U23” but do also see that there is “potential for him to develop.”
With there only being five days and scant hours left of the transfer window, this could be an exciting five days for Antoine Semenyo.
