Losing four of their last five games in all competitions has seen Leeds United fans begin to get a little antsy, and not without reason.

Before this quartet of defeats, Leeds United had been putting sides away with some ease. It was imperious form that had driven them to the top of the table, a system that tore sides apart.

However, the tearing seems to have stopped and the Whites have begun to struggle somewhat. Teams are allowing them to play out, but when they begin to threaten they are stifled with choking defensive play as opponents put men behind the ball.

Crude it may be, but effective it certainly is. It’s worked in Rotherham United’s favour today at the New York Stadium. The Millers have squeezed the life out of Leeds’ game in what has been a poor first-half for the Whites.

Leeds United, despite their superiority of possession, have been pushed and harried off the ball, being second-best to 50/50 balls. At times, with Rotherham playing the pipes, Leeds United were left both chasing shadows and dancing to the wrong tune.

A superb move by Rotherham down their left, quickly moving the ball with one-touch interplay, saw Semi Ajayi drill an unstoppable finish past Kiko Casilla into the top corner.

It was a lead that the South Yorkshire side took into the changing rooms at half-time. It was a lead they deserved. It was a lead that punished Leeds United for their alacrity.

It was a performance so abject and dismal that it was bound to cause some form of comment. Indeed it did, and here’s some of the comments from Leeds United fans.
