Millwall have offered Lee Gregory a “lucrative” new contract. It is now down to the player himself to decide on his future report NewsAtDen.
Gregory’s contract comes to an end this summer, at that point he could leave the club on a free transfer. Gregory, who is Sheffield born has previously been liked with a move to Sheffield United. The interest was genuine but recently Blades manager Chris Wilder has played down a move.
Gregory, who is 30 years old has scored 73 goals for Millwall in four and half seasons since his move in 2014. He joined the Lions for a fee of £250,000 and was brought to the club by Ian Holloway.
The former Halifax Town player has been a key player for Millwall. He has finished as the clubs top scorer in three out of his four seasons at the club. He is leading the scoring charts again this season with nine goals.
Should he decide to leave the club in the summer then there will be plenty of clubs interested in his services. Gregory’s overall play as well as goal return make him one of Millwall’s most vital players.
Verdict
This is great news for the club. If the striker decides to accept the contract. Millwall rely heavily on him not only to provide goals but his overall game. His tireless work rate being one.
The way he consistently chances everything down has not only made him a fan favourite but a vital ingredient to Millwall’s style of play. He has also proved to be useful in a new formation Neil Harris has found. A 4-3-3 style debuted at Middlesbrough last Saturday see’s him occupying as the central striker.
The fans and Neil Harris would find him very hard to replace. The fans would be losing one of their favourites.
