According to The Sun, Aston Villa scouts have been spotted watching Turkish youth prodigy Omer Faruk Beyaz at a recent tournament in Izmir, Turkey.
Aston Villa were reportedly among a host of European sides to scout Turkish youngster Omer Faruk Beyaz at the recent Aegean Cup in Izmir, Turkey.
Aston Villa scouts were alongside scouts from Premier League sides Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool and Manchester City to watch 15-year-old striker Beyaz at the Aegean Cup. The Sun writes that the youngster currently on the books with Turkish side Fenerbache impressed scouts.
A host of sides across Europe were also in attendance at the tournament to watch Beyaz play. German quartet Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich, VfB Stuttgart and Eintracht Frankfurt scouted the Fenerbahce youngster. Italian giants Juventus, Swiss side FC Basel, PSV Eindhoven from the Netherlands and Ukraine’s Shakhtar Donetsk were also among the selection of sides in attendance.
Beyaz scored four goals and picked up two assists as Turkey’s Under-16s beat Spain Under-16s to win the cup. Beyaz himself scored both goals in the final as Turkey won 2-0 and was named as man of the match.
The young attacker has a contract with Fenerbache until 2021 but could be tempted away with a host of sides from Europe’s top leagues keeping tabs.
Dean Smith has an eye for bringing in young talent and developing them into high-quality players and helping them maximise their potential. He was successful in bringing youngsters into his Brentford lineup in his time at Griffin Park and could look to do the same at Villa Park.
