Lincoln City land Championship forward on loan deal

Lincoln City have signed Ipswich Town forward Jordan Roberts on loan until the end of the season, as announced by their official club website.

The 25-year-old only joined the Tractor Boys in the summer but has been allowed by move on by Paul Lambert. He has made 12 appearances in the Championship so far this season.

Roberts becomes Lincoln’s fourth signing of the January transfer window as the Imps target a promotion to League One. He will join his fellow Ipswich winger Danny Rowe at Sincil Bank.

The Watford-born forward started his career as a youngster at Peterborough United before joining Aldershot Town in 2011. He had loans spells at Havant and Waterlooville, Tamworth and Bishop’s Stortford prior to breaking into Aldershot’s first-team.

Roberts went onto play just under 100 times for the Shots, scoring a total of 13 goals. He was then snapped up by Inverness Caledonian Thistle in 2015 and spent a season playing for them in the Scottish Premier League before returning back down south to join Crawley.

He was impressive for Crawley in his two seasons with them in League Two and bagged a total of 11 goals. His move to Ipswich in July has not worked out but he now has a chance to prove the East Anglian side wrong on loan at Lincoln.

Roberts still has a year left to run on his contract at Portman Road but his aim now will be to help Danny Cowley’s Lincoln gain promotion from the fourth tier.
