Nelson Oliveira has joined Reading on loan from Norwich City until the end of the season, as confirmed by their official club website.
The Royals have bolstered their attack with the signing of the 27-year-old.
Oliveira hasn’t played for Norwich all season and the high-flying Canaries were keen to offload him this month.
The Portuguese striker moved to England for the first time in 2015 on loan to Swansea City from Benfica, where he scored once in 11 matches.
He then moved on loan to Nottingham Forest in the Championship for the season after and bagged nine goals in 29 appearances for the Reds.
Norwich swooped to sign him on a permanent deal in 2016 from Benfica. Oliveira has scored a combined 22 goals for the Canaries in the past two campaigns in all competitions.
After signing him today, Reading boss Jose Gomes told their club website: “Nelson is a striker who certainly possesses that vital killer instinct. He is strong, powerful and technically good with the ball at his feet. And he thrives on scoring goals. So we are delighted he has chosen to join us for the final 18 games of our season.”
Here is how the Reading fans have reacted on Twitter to the signing-
Not a chance Clement makes that signing – bang, now that’s a sign of intent and that little old Reading mean business! Gomes surely in a great place to get the best out of Nelson as well. Class signing that 👏🏼 #readingfc

To be able to lure a player of Oliveira's calibre to us in our current predicament is quite something. The Jose Gomes effect. Convinced he'll add that ruthless edge up top that we've been missing. #ReadingFC

Pretty sure Gomes has achieved more than Clarke, Stam and Clement put together in terms of personnel – 3 years its taken to get Oliviera in!!! #ReadingFC
