6 reasons York City fans should be optimistic this season

6. Nigel Worthington

He was tasked with one brief, 10 games to keep the club in the League. When this was achieved the club’s fans were obviously delighted to secure his services for another season.

The 2013/14 campaign started slowly, performances were not bad but the team struggled to convert their efforts into points. Nigel worked his genius in the January transfer window to propel York to a play-off finish.

In Nigel Worthington it is fair to say York have one of the most, if the not the most, high profile manager in League 2. Gaining his experience in higher leagues and at international level, York have already gained a huge amount from the contact list he possesses. Loan signings in particular have been impressive and with a very streamlined squad York fans will be a little less worried than they may have been about York’s squad depth due to Worthington’s effectiveness in the loan market.

A very proactive manager Nigel is quick to identify issues and amend them, be them his own errors or players under performing. Despite his modest budget and surroundings York fans know that anything could be possible with Mr Worthington at the helm.
