Leeds United capture of Casilla – does this picture confirm done deal

Virtually straight after Leeds United had taken apart Derby County on Friday like a badly-assembled Lego set, Phil Hay informed Leeds United fans that they were to expect a transfer arrival.

That arrival was named by Hay as Real Madrid reserve stopper Kiko Casilla. Casilla had been Madrid’s #2 last season, playing a raft of games in La Liga as well as some in the Champions League.

Further news came that the actual cost of the transfer would be £0, with Leeds actually compensating Los Blancos by buying out the remaining 18 months of the Spain international’s contract.

Reports put that figure at €1.7/£1.5m and that is a small price to pay for a stopper of such standing. Casilla was pictured heading to England last night from Madrid Barajas airport, but since then…nothing.

Or is there something in this?

What this picture purports to show is a locker readied for Kiko Casilla, indicating that a medical is passed and that an announcement is imminent.

However, as of publishing, there is no formal announcement so it must still be said that Kiko Casilla isn’t a Leeds United player, well not yet.
