Norwich City and Bristol City to go head to head for former Premier League midfielder

Championship duo Norwich City and Bristol City will reportedly battle it out for free agent midfielder Jordon Mutch, according to The Sun (via Bristol Live).

English midfielder Jordon Mutch is without a club after his contract with Premier League side Crystal Palace came to an end earlier on this month, but he doesn’t look set to stay out of the game for long. Championship duo Norwich City and Bristol City are set to fight it out for the 27-year-old, The Sun are reporting.

The midfielder endured an unsuccessful spell at Selhurst Park over the course of his four-year stint with The Eagles. Mutch played only 40 times for Crystal Palace after joining from Queens Park Rangers in 2014.

Now, he looks set to take the step back down to the Championship after spending time in the top flight. The Robins and The Canaries are looking to offer the midfielder a way back into the game as they look to strengthen their squads heading into the second half of the Championship season.

Norwich are head into the business half of the season in the middle of an automatic promotion battle. Daniel Farke’s side are currently third in the league, level on points with 2nd place Sheffield United. However, their form has faltered lately, with them being four games without a win in the Championship.

On the contrary, Bristol City have strung together an excellent run of results, bringing them right into the Championship Play-Off fight. The Robins are 10 games unbeaten in all competitions and are just two points behind Derby in 7th place.
