Leeds United sit comfortable as can be expected atop the Sky Bet Championship pile. They have a four point cushion between themselves and second place in the table.
However, as the pace begins to hot up, and as the injuries continue to nibble away at available resources, Leeds fans have been asking when the club will busy themselves in the January market.
Those questions are beginning to be answered as the Whites look to tie up an impressive deal for Real Madrid back-up keeper Kiko Casilla. This involves United buying out the remaining 18 months of his contract with the Spanish giants.
There is also rumoured interest in Bristol City winger Callum O’Dowda as the Whites look to bolster their outfield attacking options.
In the vein of ‘outfield attacking interest’, The Sun say that United are willing to meet Swansea City’s valuation of their young wing star Daniel James. The Sun’s Michael Morgan said in his article: “Leeds are prepared to pay that because Bielsa feels he could boost his side’s promotion push.”
21-year-old James, who started his football education at Hull City, has progressed through the youth ranks at the South Wales club, becoming a mainstay of their Championship side this season.
He’s featured in 16 games for the Swans in the second tier during the current campaign. During these appearances, James has scored one goal and assisted four others – his lightning pace evident for all to see.
The buzz across social media is that James is the sort of layer who could slot into Marcelo Bielsa’s squad at Elland Road and really add to the threat they pose going forward this season.
