Leeds United player back with a bang – Izzy busy as Bielsa watches on

Leeds United fans were delighted to hear that Izzy Brown was back in the fold for the under 23’s today. The forward has been out since late last year with hamstring issues after a serious injury and looks set for a return to first-team football in February. Today he bagged a brace on his return for the under 23’s.

Brown got through the full game and impressed alongside first-team regular Kalvin Phillips who is keeping sharp with one more game of suspension to serve. Tom Pearce also started as Leeds stayed top of the division, the same as the under 18’s and of course the first-team. Carlos Corberan has the side firing and it seems they will go better than last season and really go for the league at that age group. It’s been a regular place to see returning first-team members this season as well.

Izzy Brown is the final player left that joined on loan from Chelsea in the summer. Jamal Blackman was on the brink of breaking into the first-team ahead of Baily Peacock-Farrell before breaking his leg and returning to his parent club. Lewis Baker was the next to leave and just last week. The midfielder wasn’t getting the game time under Marcelo Bielsa and Chelsea recalled him before sending him straight to Reading.

Leeds are currently lacking options in the attacking midfield roles at the moment. Tyler Roberts was almost playing in the number ten role on Friday night with Pablo Hernandez a doubt and that’s very makeshift given we had Samu Saiz, Pablo Hernandez and obviously the injured Izzy Brown on the books when the season kicked off. If Brown can return in February it would allow Hernandez to move back wide and takes pressure off him to produce in every singe game.
