According to The Sun (via HITC Sport), Premier League side Burnley are lining up an £8 million move for Derby County starlet Jayden Bogle.
Burnley are considering making an £8 million move for Derby County’s young full-back Jayden Bogle, according to reports from The Sun.
Bogle hadn’t made a single senior appearance for Derby County prior to the arrival of manager Frank Lampard in the summer. Since then, the defender has become a mainstay in The Rams starting 11.
The right-back started his youth career with League Two side Swindon Town, before joining the Derby academy in 2016. He spent two years in the Rams’ academy before joining up with the first team upon the arrival of Lampard.
Throughout the first half of the season, he has played 26 games in all competitions, with 22 of those coming in the Championship. The 18-year-old has kept former Liverpool defender Andre Wisdom out of the first-team. The majority of Wisdom’s nine appearances this season have come in the absence of Bogle, but has recently filled in for injured left-back Craig Forsyth.
It is believed that Derby are unlikely to be willing to let Bogle leave this January, despite the rumoured £8 million bid. The defender has shown that he has potential to play in the Premier League given his impressive performances so far this season. At 18, he has kept his place in the line-up despite this only being his first season as a first-team player.
Given his youth and potential, it isn’t surprising to see Premier League interest in Bogle.
