According to TEAMtalk, Norwich City are one of a trio of SkyBet Championship sides interested in 40-cap American striker Gyasi Zardes.

Zardes, who moved to current side Columbus Crew from LA Galaxy in late January 2018, scored 19 goals in 33 games last season.

This 19-goal haul, plus two assists, are part of 53 goals and 20 assists across the MLS competition for both the Crew and LA Galaxy.

Norwich are currently in a comfortable 3rd place in the SkyBet Championship table, level on points with 2nd place Sheffield United and four points shy of leaders Leeds United. Looking below them, the Canaries are nine points away from 7th place Bristol City.

Led by 15-goal leading scorer Teemu Pukki, the Canaries have been running neck-and-neck with Leeds United at the top end of the table all season. Pukki has been a revelation in his first half-season of English football, ably supported by six-goal on-loan striker Jordan Rhodes.

Last time out it was a hard-fought 1-1 draw with fellow goal-happy side West Brom, that game being their third draw in their last four league games.

Currently valued at £3.15m by website Transfermarkt, the 6ft 2in, California-born Zardes is said to not only be interesting Leeds United but “also a number of clubs looking to land the international striker” say TEAMtalk.

As mentioned above, the Canaries won’t have it all their own way as fellow Championship sides Middlesbrough and Leeds United are also said interested in landing the prolific striker in the summer.

A further caveat for the Norfolk side comes from the fact that they also face supposed interest from a trio of Premier League clubs in Crystal Palace and struggling duo Huddersfield and Fulham.
