West Brom eyeing up loan swoop for Arsenal starlet after losing Harvey Barnes

Leicester City winger Harvey Barnes was a star man for West Brom throughout the first half of the season. However, the attacker has returned to his parent club, leaving a void in the Baggies’ attack.

To fill in the gap left by the departure of Barnes, West Brom are eyeing up a loan move for Arsenal starlet Emile Smith Rowe, according to The Mirror (via Birmingham Live).

The departure of Harvey Barnes came as a disappointment to West Brom fans and manager Darren Moore alike. It was agreed for him to spend the entire season at The Hawthorns in the summer. However, after his impressive first half of the season, he was recalled to Leicester earlier than expected.

To fill the void, Moore is looking to bring in Arsenal youngster Smith Rowe for the remainder of the Championship campaign.

The Arsenal youngster has burst onto the scene throughout the first half of this season, making his debut under new manager Unai Emery. His first appearance came off the bench in Arsenal’s 4-2 win over Ukranian side Vorskla Poltava, playing 20 minutes. The winger made his first start for The Gunners in the Carabao Cup against Brentford in a 3-1 win.

He hasn’t made an appearance in the Premier League so far this season and could be sent out on loan to get more first-team experience.

In 11 games so far this season for both the first team and Under-23s, the 18-year-old has scored six times. In the summer, he was reportedly on the radar of Spanish giants FC Barcelona, but a move failed to develop beyond rumours.
