After Leeds United swept away Derby County on Friday night, and before SpyGate heated up, Phil Hay swept away Whites fans with news of a big transfer.

When talking of sides to bring in players from, they don’t come much bigger than Spanish giants Real Madrid. So when Hay mentioned that Leeds were bringing in keeper Kiko Casilla, Twitter went into overdrive.

Essentially, Leeds United are bringing in Real Madrid’s #2 keeper from last season. That alone is enough to justify this transfer with the term ‘coup capture’.

United have been linked with a number of domestic keepers such as Karl Darlow (Newcastle United) and Kieren Westwood (Sheffield Wednesday). However, it is to the Santiago Bernabeu that United turn and to Kiko Casilla – a keeper relegated to third-choice behind Thibault Courtois and Keylor Navas.

Earlier today respected Spanish journalist and La Liga expert Guillem Balague said that the transfer is expected to go through early next week, something written about here on The72.

Balague has also returned with some more recent news (below) that could very well be enough to add another smile to Leeds fans’ faces.

What Leeds fans can take from this is that there will be no transfer fee to pay between the Whites and Los Blancos, Casilla swapping white for white for free.
