The January window is now in full swing and teams are beginning to pick up transfer interest at some pace.

Leeds United are one of those sides, Real Madrid goalkeeper Kiko Casilla said to be inbound early next week. However, Sun reporter Alan Nixon (tweet – below) hints at Whites interest in Swansea duo Daniel James and Jefferson Montero.

Nixon’s tweet comes on the back of the following conversation thread on Nixon’s Twitter timeline.

James and Montero are both left-wingers/left-midfielders and are both currently on the books at United’s fellow Sky Bet Championship side Swansea City.

James came through the Swans youth system after transferring from Hull City’s Under-18s. He is under contract until June this year, having signed a year’s extension in late-May 2018. He’s featured in 16 Championship games this season and has been involved in five goals – scoring once and adding four assists.

Montero is a 29-year-old, 64-cap Ecuadorian international and joined Swansea in a £4.5m deal from Mexican side Morelia in late-July 2014. Before that he featured heavily in Spanish football for the likes of Villareal, Levante and Real Betis. He has featured in 10 Championship games, providing two assists.

Nixon warns that, whilst Leeds United are “interested in both“, the Whites are “realistically only likely to take one or the other.” Either way, Leeds fans will be emboldened by the very fact that their club are showing some form of reported interest in the January market.
