Leeds United fans have been crying out for the club to show intent by doing business in the January transfer window. That’s being done now.

As Marcelo Bielsa continues to shift things around somewhat, to accommodate a growing injury list, there comes news that the club are poised to announce the signing of Real Madrid #3 Kiko Casillas.

When I say “Real Madrid #3,” I am doing Casilla a disservice bearing in mind that the 32-year-old Alcover-born was Los Blancos #2 last season. It was a season where he made 10 La Liga appearances, as well as two appearances in the Champions League and five in the Copa Del Rey.

Casilla is a keeper who started his career in the youth set-up at Real Madrid, progressing to the Real Madrid Castilla side before his release to Espanyol in 2007. It was from Espanyol that Real brought him back to the Bernabeu in 2015 for a fee of £5.4m.

In his career he has made 140 LaLiga appearances (conceding 172/47 clean sheets) as well as 66 appearances in LaLiga2 (97 conceded/17 clean sheets). Without a doubt you can class this as a marquee signing.

That is exactly how Leeds United fans have said over on Twitter where the mood is already on a high after handing out a 2-0 defeat to Derby County at Elland Road. Here’s what some of them had to say about the capture of the incoming stopper.
