Leeds United striker on the brink of exit with loan deal set to be completed

Leeds United attacker Pawel Cibicki is set to go out on loan for the remainder of the 2018/19 season, with Swedish side Elfsborg close to sealing a move for the 25-year-old.

Swedish news outlet Sportsbladet are reporting that Elfsborg are close to agreeing on a move for Leeds United striker Pawel Cibicki.

The deal will see the striker move on loan for the rest of the season and it is believed that there will be an option to bring the Swede in permanently once the loan comes to an end.

Cibicki failed to impress during his time at Elland Road, spending one unsuccessful season in the Championship before heading out on loan to Sweden with Molde, where he played under now-Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

In 18 games with Molde, Cibicki has scored three goals in all competitions, assisting four goals.

Elfsborg’s sporting director Stefan Andreasson has said that he is hoping to complete deals before they depart on a training camp but provided no direct update on their chase for Cibicki.

“Ambitions are to get any player in place before we go on training camp next week,” he said.

I have no comments on that (Cibicki being done). We present players when something is ready.”

Cibicki joined Leeds on deadline day in August 2017 for a fee of £1.5 million plus add-ons. Despite promising performances for Malmo and Sweden’s U21s, Cibicki failed to make an impact at Elland Road.

The striker made 7 championship appearances last season, assisting two but scoring none. The 24-year-old fell behind Kemar Roofe and Pierre-Michel Lasogga in the pecking order throughout the 2017/18 Championship season, bringing an end to his short Leeds United career.
