There aren’t many players left in the Leeds United squad to be able to pick up injuries but we have managed just that. Pablo Hernandez is a major doubt for the game on Friday after picking up an injury in training. Marcelo Bielsa also confirmed Kemar Roofe and Pontus Jansson had issues but will be fit to play.
There are a few players in the current squad we simply can’t afford to have injured and Pablo Hernandez is one of those. Add to that Pontus Jansson and Kemar Roofe and you have the three crucial areas of the side where we have no cover at all. The injury to Hernandez comes on the day Lewis Baker has been recalled by Chelsea and just weeks after we lost Samu Saiz to Getafe on loan for the remainder of the season. Izzy Brown, Patrick Bamford, Gaetano Berardi and Barry Douglas are all injured and Kalvin Phillips is suspended.
Pablo Hernandez a major doubt for Derby, Bielsa says. Also indicating that Douglas and Bamford miss the game. Cooper is back involved and could play. "For me it's not an excuse. We have an obligation to win the next game and we can win it." #lufc

It is obvious that the training methods are taking their toll when it comes to injuries but it’s also obvious that those methods have meant we can challenge at the top of the league. Marcelo Bielsa has worked nothing short of a miracle to have us top of the pile at this stage but how long he can keep that up remains to be seen. Without some incoming players this will eventually catch up with us and you can only see it ending one way.
The positive news is that Liam Cooper and Tom Pearce have returned and are available for Friday night, Liam Cooper a huge boost to the side. We are also in the only month where you can sign players during the window and that has to be taken advantage of by Leeds United. Victor Orta has to put players in front of Bielsa and Andrea Radrizzani has to fund the ones Bielsa thinks we need, it is as simple as that.
