Preston in shock move for Burnley goalkeeper

Joe Hart could be on the verge of leaving Burnley on loan for the rest of the season.

The former England number one has been dropped by Burnley in recent weeks. Hart, who joined Burnley in the summer is now seen as a deputy to Tom Heaton. He could drop further down the pecking order when Nick Pope returns to fitness.

The Sun are now reporting that he could be offered the chance to escape Turf Moore.

They are reporting that Lancashire rivals Preston North End have contacted the Premier League side over Hart’s availability.

North End boss Alex Neil has prioritised getting a keeper between the sticks in this window. The Deepdale club have already allowed Chris Maxwell to join Charlton on loan.

It would appear that Neil had already chosen Burnley as his preferred supply line with Tom Heaton being first choice. However, following his recall to the first team it appears that attention has turned to the former Birmingham and West Ham loanee.

The former Manchester City number one has found form and consistency a problem since Euro 2016. His performances in England’s hopeless campaign were criticised as were the mistakes he made against both Wales and the humiliating defeat to Iceland.

That summer saw Hart leave Manchester City following the arrival of Pep Guardiola. He went abroad and joined Torino on a season long loan. He also spent last season away from Manchester on loan this time with West Ham. During both of these spells he found consistency hard to come by.
