Great news for Aston Villa as star loanee turns down Premier League switch

It has been reported by the Daily Mail that Aston Villa are set to keep hold of Chelsea loanee Tammy Abraham, after he turned down a loan switch to Premier League side Wolves.

It was reported yesterday here on The72 that Tammy Abraham was missing from training at Aston Villa, making for grim reading for Villa fans. However, the Abraham has taken an encouraging turn, after he rejected a loan switch to fellow Midlands side Wolves.

Rumours have been circulating regarding the England youngster’s future at both parent club Chelsea and Aston Villa. Wolves were widely linked with an £18 million move for the striker, before it seeming that the 21-year-old was set to move to Molineux on loan for the rest of the 2018/19 season.

However, after reportedly turning down a loan move to Wolves, Abraham is ready to help Aston Villa in their promotion fight for the rest of the Championship season.

Abraham has been in electric form for Dean Smith’s side throughout the first half of the season, leading Villa’s resurgence after Steve Bruce’s sacking. The Chelsea youngster has scored an impressive 16 goals in 20 appearances so far this season, helping Villa rise to 10th place and just five points behind Derby County, who sit in 6th place.

Reports have been circulating in the run up to and throughout the January transfer window, with Abraham catching the eye of Premier League sides after an impressive spell with Villa.

Dean Smith is keen to add new players to his squad this January and the news emerging this morning that Abraham is set to remain with Villa will come as music to his ears.
