Sheffield United are interested in signing Cardiff City striker Gary Madine on loan, as reported by The72 earlier today.
Madine, who is 28 years-old, joined Cardiff last January for a fee in the region of £6 million but is still yet to find the net for the Bluebirds in 19 appearances.
He has played five games this season in the Premier League but could now be allowed to leave the Welsh side in search of more regular first-team action.
Madine has previously played for the likes of Carlisle United, Sheffield Wednesday, Blackpool, Coventry City and Bolton Wanderers. He is experienced in the Football League and has racked up over 350 career appearances.
He impressed the most at Bolton where he scored 26 goals in 107 appearances for the Trotters which earned him a move to the Cardiff City Stadium
Sheffield United will be hoping he can rekindle that type of form if they are able to land him this month. The potential move would raise some eyebrows considering his history with the Blades’ bitter rivals Sheffield Wednesday.
However, surely United fans won’t care if Madine comes in and scores the goals to fire them back to the Premier League?
Here is how their fans have reacted on Twitter to the Gary Madine rumours-

Madine is a very good signing imo and will score goals in our team #sufc

Please not Gary Madine. Wilder has great track record with signings, and many were sceptical when Clarke joined which provides a reasonable comparative analogy, but this would be a step too far for me. Don’t want to see this happen. #SUFC #TwitterBlades

Leon Clarke used to be hated just as much as Madine. Look at where he is now. No ones slagging him off any more are they. Wilder saw the potential and it paid off. Why can’t the same happen to Madine? #SUFC

It's a strange one, and one that I have to say does stun me. Madine has a lot of baggage with our supporters. Whilst I'm prepared to give every player in a Blades shirt a chance, I have a feeling this won't be the case with everyone. Bold move. #sufc #twitterblades
