Sky Sports – Leeds understood to be keen on Pompey winger

Leeds United are looking at Portsmouth winger Jamal Lowe according to Sky Sports News. Leeds are short on numbers all over the park but sit top of the league with less than half of the season left.

Lowe is 24 years old and has been in very good form for League One Portsmouth, helping the club to the top of the table this season. He’s scored ten goals in twenty six games and with his pace and direct style he’s certainly caught the eye. West Bromwich Albion, Middlesbrough and Nottingham Forest are also keen on the player.

Leeds United and Marcelo Bielsa are needing reinforcements this window with injuries crippling the squad. Patrick Bamford and Izzy Brown are both still out in the forward ranks, and  Liam Cooper, Gaetano Berardi and Stuart Dallas still out further back. The club also desperately need a goalkeeper with loan man Jamal Blackman heading back to Chelsea with a broken leg.

Leeds currently have Gjanni Alioski, Jack Harrison and Jack Clarke as wingers at the club. Alioski seems to be finding some form and Jack Harrison has struggled to make an impact since coming back into the side. The most in-form of the three is youngster Jack Clarke but the player hasn’t started a game in the first-team yet. The attacking side of Leeds United’s play seems to be hit and miss at the moment. Some fresh blood in the squad wouldn’t be a bad idea and the departure of Samu Saiz has certainly left a huge gap in the side. Whether or not this deal will happen for any of the clubs interested remains to be seen. Portsmouth won’t be willing to sell for cheap with a return to the Championship very much on the cards.
