Corr blimey! – Barry leaves Cambridge United a second time.

Barry Corr leaves the club for a second spell as his six-month contract comes to an end, as Cambridge United announce the Irishman’s contact will not be renewed, according to the club’s website.

Corr rejoined the club after leaving in the summer, his late season form securing him a short-term deal in his second spell at The Abbey.

The iconic figure only scored one league goal this season, albeit a dramatic one, with August’s late win over Notts County attributed to Corr’s contribution.

The 33 year-old has found appearances hard to come by, and he last featured for the club over three months ago, with a cameo appearance against Forest Green Rovers proving to be his last.

Since initially joining the club over three years back in 2015, Corr scored 19 goals in 48 league games over his two spells at The U’s.

Corr counts Leeds United and Sheffield Wednesday amongst his former clubs, as well as being renowned as a specialist in League Two, helping former side Southend United to promotion nearly four years ago.

Corr has not been in any matchday squad under new boss Colin Calderwood and was massively out of favour, thus paving the way for him to leave.

A statement on the club’s website read: “Cambridge United offers our sincere thanks to Barry and wish to pay credit to his hard work and commitment through difficult circumstances during his full time at the club.”

Cambridge are in League Two action against Stevenage this Saturday, with both sides exiting the competition in the earlier rounds.
