There is yet to be an announcement from The Posh regarding a deal, nor has there been reports about a potential departure yet. However, his latest post could be hinting that he is close to sealing a move away from Peterborough United.

An agreement at the start of the 2017/18 season saw Maddison sign a new contract at the League One side, where it was agreed he would go on the transfer list at the end of the season if The Posh failed to go up, giving him a chance of moving to a Championship side to better his career.

The 2017/18 season finished with The Posh sat in 9th place, meaning they would be playing League One football once again. Chairman and co-owner Darragh MacAnthony honored his agreement with Maddison, and he was placed on the transfer list.

However, despite Summer interest from multiple Championship sides including Leeds United, Derby County, Blackburn Rovers, West Brom, Aston Villa and Reading, a move failed to materialize and Maddison stayed at London Road for another season. The listed clubs were just a few of many clubs that were believed to be interested in Maddison throughout the summer.

At the start of the League One season, the playmaker was nowhere near peak fitness, and was being kept out of the team by Siriki Dembele and Joe Ward.

Since then, Maddison has been working hard to full fitness and into the starting eleven – and he has been successful. The 25-year-old has made 25 appearances this season, keeping up his impressive assist record with another 14 already this season.

It was unknown whether Maddison remained on the transfer list after his summer move failed to materialize, but from this latest post it seems that he could be close to the London Road exit door. It also remains unknown if any of the clubs interested in the summer are continuing their pursuit in the January transfer window.
