Bruce is a shrewd appointment by the Owls. There is no denying his credentials in this division. He knows the Championship inside out and has been promoted to the Premier League on four occasions, as well as guiding Villa to the Play-Off final last season.

The ex-Manchester United defender exceeded expectations at Hull and will therefore always be rewarded as one of our most successful managers. He guided us to the top flight in his first season at the club (2012/13) by coming second.

He then kept us in the Premier League in the first campaign back. Bruce also got the Tigers to our first ever FA Cup final, which is an incredible feet, which subsequently left us in the Europa League.

Bruce was able to attract some big names such as  Abel Hernandez, Hatem Ben Arfa, Shane Long and Nikica Jelavic. However, many Hull fans were annoyed when he played a weakened team in Europe which resulted the side getting knocked out by Lokeren in the qualifying stages.

He was complacent. City were relegated from the Premier League in the 2014/15 campaign and never should have been with that squad.

To his credit, Bruce guided Hull to an immediate promotion from the Championship by beating Sheffield Wednesday in the Play-Off final. That side should have really gone up automatically, when you look at the players in it such as Robert Snodgrass, Mo Diame, Tom Huddlestone, Hernandez, Andy Robertson etc. The season went off track at the end which meant the Play-Offs had to do. Nevertheless, a promotion was still an extremely impressive achievement.

Bruce resigned over that summer. There is no doubt that Hull City was one of his best jobs in his career and if he does the same at Sheffield Wednesday then he will be loved.
