West Brom make shock enquiry for Tottenham Hotspur’s Victor Wanyama

West Brom have made an enquiry about the availability of Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Victor Wanyama, according to the Daily Mail.

The Kenyan international has started just once in the Premier League for Spurs this season and they are open to listening to offers for him in the January transfer window.

However, Wanyama has no intention of dropping down into the Championship with West Brom. There are a host of other clubs interested in him.

The Baggies are keen on making a statement of intent this month with a quality signing. Darren Moore’s side are currently 3rd in the league and two points off the automatic promotion places as they look to gain an immediate promotion back to the Premier League.

Perhaps the Albion could be more of an attractive proposition for Wanyama if they are a top flight side again next season.

The 27-year-old joined Spurs in June 2016 from Southampton for a fee in the region of £11 million on a five-year deal. He has since played 75 times for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

Wanyama made his name in the Scottish Premier League with Celtic before he was snapped up by the Saints in July 2013. He became the first Kenyan to play in the Premier League and impressed in his three seasons at St Mary’s.

It looks incredibly unlikely that he will be moving to the Hawthorns this month but it was worth the Baggies making an enquiry over his availability.

West Brom face Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park today as they continue to battle it out for promotion.
