Exeter City’s club website released a statement saying: “To keep our fans informed we would like to let our supporters know that as of January 1 several clubs have triggered a set fee release clause in Jayden Stockley’s contract.”

“Despite our best efforts to retain his services, Jayden is now free to speak to those clubs”

Jayden Stockley was a journey man before moving to Exeter City for a club record fee as he had loan spells at eight clubs, including Torquay United, Leyton Orient, Woking and Accrington, followed, before he finally made his mark in his last at Exeter City in the first half of 2016, before joining permanently from Scottish side Aberdeen in August 2017.

Jayden Stockley has scored 16 times already this season and has been rumoured for a departure in the transfer window.

MK Dons making huge effort to sign Exeter City striker Jayden Stockley with Preston North End, Millwall and Portsmouth keen on the forward, according to journalist Alan Nixon.

Preston North End are believed to have activated Exeter City striker Jayden Stockley’s buy-out clause and could be set to beat League One leaders Portsmouth, MK Dons, Peterborough United and Millwall to sign him.

BC Radio Devon’s Exeter commentator Andrew Barge told BBC Sport: “We knew when he was on loan here, two seasons ago, what a good player he was and it was disappointing when he signed permanently for Aberdeen.”

“Since he’s come back, he’s been magnificent for the team, whether he’s played as a lone striker or in a partnership, and his ability and hard work are showing dividends.”

“The goals speak for themselves and he’s proving that last season wasn’t just a one off. At just 25, you hope there’s more to come from him.”

It’s unclear to who Jayden Stockley will sign for at the moment, but it will become clear in the next few days.
