Midfielder returns to Queens Park Rangers after successful loan with Rotherham United

Midfielder Ryan Manning has returned to parent club Queens Park Rangers after a successful loan spell in League One with Rotherham United.

Ryan Manning has enjoyed his time at the New York Stadium with Rotherham United, becoming a mainstay in Paul Warne’s side in the first half of the Championship season.

Manning has made 19 appearances in all competitions so far this season, with Rotherham sitting in 22nd place in the Championship table after 25 games. The midfielder has impressed in The Millers’ struggling side, scoring four times – all coming from the penalty spot.

The midfielder was meant to spend the entire season on loan with The Millers, but the deal also included a recall clause for the January transfer window, and Queens Park Rangers boss has opted to bring the midfielder back to Loftus Road.

McClaren spoke to the club website about Manning’s return.

“We are pleased to welcome Ryan back.

“At the start of the season, he wanted to play and we couldn’t guarantee him games. Once we brought Geoff in, it enabled us to release Ryan so he could go out and play in the Championship.

“With Mass away with Australia and Geoff now out, it’s good timing for Ryan to return.

“From speaking with him, he was keen to come back and fight for his place. He knows it’s not guaranteed, he knows the team are doing well but loan spells like the one he has had are a good opportunity for young players.

“I think he has enjoyed it and it has been beneficial for both parties. Now he comes back to us and he’s here to fight for his place.”
