Celtic join Millwall in chase for West Brom winger

Celtic are keen on West Brom winger Oliver Burke, according to the Daily Record.

The 21-year-old is set to leave the Baggies on loan in the January transfer window for first-team football. He is also being linked with a move to fellow Championship side Millwall, as reported by The72 yesterday.

Scottish Premier League champions Celtic are now hoping to persuade Burke to move north to help in their title charge this season under Brendan Rodgers.

Burke, who has made five caps for the Scotland national team, has fallen down the pecking order at West Brom this season and has played just three times in the league.

The Baggies signed him for fee in the region  of £15 million from Bundesliga side Leipzig in August 2017 but a hamstring injury meant he struggled to maintain a regular run in their starting eleven as they were relegated from the Premier League in his first season at the club.

Burke started out at Nottingham Forest and rose through the youth ranks at the City Ground. He went onto play 31 times for the Reds’ senior side and scored 6 goals.

His breakthrough into the Forest first-team as a youngster attracted the attention of Leipzig who forked out around £13 million to land him for their debut season in the German top flight.

Burke needs to be playing regular football to help rekindle his career. Should he stay in the Championship with Millwall or make the move to Scotland with Celtic next month?
