Leeds United midfielder – “We go again on Tuesday”

Adam Forshaw, like the rest of the side yesterday had a tough day as he struggled to make his mark on a game that was one too many. The midfielder made mistakes and looked bitterly disappointed after the game as he spoke to LUTV, but was keen to point out Tuesday is already on the horizon.

Forshaw broke back into the side after missing the early part of the season through injury. Despite being one of the players Marcelo Bielsa was very complimentary about during pre-season the from of Mateusz Klich had meant the bench was where he would sit for longer than he would have wanted on return. As it was Mateusz Klich wasn’t giving up his spot and still hasn’t, Forshaw has replaced Samu Saiz in the side, with others shuffling around.

Forshaw initially played in front of Kalvin Phillips in the midfield and behind only Mateusz Klich in a three. Phillips then moved back to partner Pontus Jansson and Forshaw is back in what you could call his more natural position of screening the back four. He has, in the main played very well, linking play and doing the simple passing but a couple of games he’s really struggled, yesterday being one of them.

Forshaw was a key player in pre-season under Bielsa before picking up an injury

The midfielder cost Leeds an initial £3 million rising to £4.5 million and one thing he does add is composure and energy, as well as crucial Championship experience. After the game yesterday you would hope he’ll want to bounce back personally, the same as Pablo Hernandez, Luke Ayling and Barry Douglas who were some of the experienced players who really had poor games. Nottingham Forest is never an easy place to go and Forshaw having a big game would be one of the crucial areas of the park needed for Leeds to come away with the three points.
