Aston Villa challenge Serie A clubs for Celta Vigo midfielder ‘agreement’

In news coming through from Spanish outlet, and regional digital newspaper La Voz de Galicia, Aston Villa are said to be a side interested in Celta Vigo midfielder Nemanja Radoja.

The bad news for the Villans, according to the article, is that the company they are keeping involves Serie A sides Fiorentina and SPAL. The Italian sides are said to be ‘tracking’ Radoja, but the bonus for Villa is that they are said to “have an agreement with the player.

La Voz de Galicia say that the situation between Celta Vigo and Serbian midfielder Radoja “may be resolved on upcoming dates.” It is a situation that is exacerbated by the 25-year-old’s contract running down this coming  summer.

They say that he is “training with his teammates” but has not played a game this season and has been allowed to start his Christmas break ahead of the rest of the squad.

The Novi Sad-born, two-cap international signed for Celta Vigo in mid-August 2014 from Serbian first-tier side Vojvodina. He has gone on to make 146 appearances for Celta across all competitions, including 115 La Liga appearances.

In these 146 appearances, the defensive-midfielder has scored just the one goal, whilst providing five assists. La Voz de Galicia say that Celta will aim to get a fee for Radoja, even though his tenure at the club is coming to a close.

However, and as a warning to Villa who are said to have already an ‘agreement’ in place, Celta Vigo are prepared “to stand firm” and not allow him to leave.
