Sheffield Wednesday star issued arrest warrant

In news being reported by the Sheffield Star, Sheffield Wednesday star Fernando Forestieri has been issued with an arrest warrant for non-appearance at court.

28-year-old forward was cited as facing charges of allegedly using threatening words and behaviour in a pre-season friendly against Mansfield Town on July 24 this year.

The former Watford striker was at the centre of an altercation with Mansfield players as the game petered out towards a 2-1 Stags victory.

In the 88th minute of the game, boiling point was reached when a confrontation between both sides erupted. This confrontation came after a number of “mistimed challenges on Stags’ players” according to the match report on Mansfield’s official website.

Forestieri has played a bit-part in Wednesday’s 2018/19 campaign thus far, appearing in just 13 of their 24 games to press. He’s been absent for the Owls since last appearing against Blackburn Rovers on December 1.

He’s featured for just 696 minutes this campaign in the Sky Bet Championship for the Owls, with an added 90 minute outing coming in the Carabao Cup in a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Wolves.

There has been talk, likely lazy column fillers, that Forestieri is on the transfer tracker of many sides looking to improve their attacking prowess come the January window.

The Owls face a tough game next up against free-scoring West Brom at the Hawthorns and will be looking to improve on their lowly 16th in the table. It will be a big ask though against the 3rd place Baggies who are unbeaten in their last six games.

However, ahead of any further involvement for Sheffield Wednesday, the feisty Italian has other pressing matters to attend to first.
