Leeds United remain in the hunt for striker with 29 goals in 15 games this season

Championship promotion hopefuls Leeds United remain in the hunt for Algerian international striker Baghdad Bounedjah, who boasts an incredible goalscoring record of 29 goals in 15 games so far this season.

Algerian news site Competition are reporting that Leeds United are amongst a host of teams still interested in Al Sadd S.C. striker Baghdad Bounedjah. It was widely reported earlier this season that the striker had caught the eye of United boss Marcelo Bielsa, and the links are being reported once again.

The striker has been in unbelievable form this season, notching up an impressive 29 goals in 15 Qatar Star League games so far this season, playing alongside former Spain and Barcelona superstar Xavi for Al Sadd.

The 27-year-old has been prolific at all of the clubs he has played for in his nine year career, but is yet to test himself in a top League. Bounedjah started his career with his local side in Algeria, RCG Oran. In two years with the Algerian side, the striker picked up 39 goals in 46 games.

The Algerian international then joined USM El Harrach, where he scored 16 goals in 48 games over the course of two years. He then swapped Algeria for Tunisia, signing for Etoile du Sahel, where he scored 32 goals in 54 games and broke into the Algerian international squad for the first time in 2014. Bounedjah has gone on to make 19 appearances his his country, scoring seven times.

After leaving Etoile du Sahel, Bounedjah joined Al Sadd, where he has gone on to enjoy the best period of his career to date. In 29 games, The 27-year-old has scored an incredible 81 goals for the Qatari club, catching the eyes of European clubs.

Leeds United are just one of many clubs believed to be interested in Bounedjah, with Leeds United joining French Ligue 1 duo Lille and Marseille and Premier League side Leicester City in the group of sides keen on securing the striker’s services.
