Exeter City linked with move for out of favour Motherwell forward

Sky Bet League Two club Exeter City could be set to make Motherwell striker Ryan Bowman their first signing of next month’s transfer window according to reports by The Scottish Sun.

The 27-year-old Carlisle-born frontman has found starts hard to come by at the Fir Park club in recent weeks and with the player out of contract in the summer, he is likely to leave Motherwell after spending three seasons north of the border.

It has now been reported that Motherwell have received a transfer offer from an unnamed English Football League club for Bowman. It is unknown which club placed the bid, however, reports have confirmed Exeter City’s interest in the player.

Exeter City have returned to winning ways in recent weeks following a difficult spell and are now back in the hunt for automatic promotion to Sky Bet League One. Their 2-1 home victory over Yeovil Town on Boxing Day was their third consecutive victory and manager Matt Taylor will be keen to add the right players to his group next month to aid their push for a return to the third tier.

Potential target Bowman scored eight goals in 37 appearances during a previous spell in Sky Bet League Two with York City while the player netted 18 goals in just one season with Exeter City’s neighbours Torquay United four seasons ago. The forward has a good work ethic and is likely to need a run of starts to find the back of the net on a regular basis once again.
