Five things we learned from Hull City’s 2-1 win over Preston North End

It has been a happy festive period for Hull City as they made six games unbeaten after winning 2-1 away at Preston yesterday. Here are five things we learned from the game-

1. What a job Nigel Adkins is doing- It is now ten unbeaten for his side and he has managed to steer the club away from the relegation zone over the past couple of months. He has done a great job in difficult circumstances under the Allams.

2. Kamil Grosicki is always a threat- City fed the Polish international on the left wing on every opportunity they could and he was a threat to Preston all game. They need to ensure they keep hold of him in the January transfer window.

3. Jackson Irvine will be missed- He scored the two goals for the Tigers yesterday but will miss the next month as he is going to the Asia Cup with Australia. He will be missed as he provides a goal threat as well as energy in midfield.

4. Tommy Elphick will also be missed- It is looking likely that Aston Villa will be recalling him from his loan spell which will be a huge blow for Adkins’ side. The 31-year-old has tightened up City’s defence and has been an integral part of the team in this impressive run of form.

5. Can the run extend?-  Next up for the Tigers is a trip to top of the table Leeds United at Elland Road on Saturday. It is set to be an intriguing encounter between the two form teams of the Championship.
