Norwich City misfit star wants Turkey move

Promotion chasing Norwich City do have a plethora of attacking talent, not least in the shape of Teemu Pukki and Emi Buendia.

One name that City fans haven’t heard in blue moon is Nelson OIiveira, the Portuguese striker has outlined his intention to leave the club.

A report by Takvim, via SportWitness claim that Oliveira and his agent will now discuss a potential move to Besiktas with the club, with a view to departing in the new year.

Oliveira hasn’t featured for the Canaries since the final day of last season, in a 5-1 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday and hasn’t netted since February’s 2-2 draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Norwich City would prefer a permanent deal, while Besiktas would prefer the deal to be only a temporary one, with an option to buy.

The East Anglians find themselves behind Leeds United in the race for the title. with Oliveira sat behind Pukku, Jordan Rhodes and Denis Srbeny in the pecking order.

Oliveira has had a mixed time of it in England, 19 goals in 65 games at Carrow Road represents a decent return a spell at Nottingham Forest was quite fruitful, but his time at Swansea City was less so.

The Portuguese International has scored for his country as recently as August 2017, and will surely be eyeing a return to the national set-up if he can rediscover his early career form.

The 27 year-old has played in four countries and a move to Turkey would make that figure, five. With his CV representing the likes of Deportivo La Coruna and Benfica, he may well be worth the gamble.

The 15-time Turkish Super Lig winners are currently sixth in the league.
